Jordan Grimaud Vector Exercise

For this vector project I chose to show how the words horror and fear interact with one another.  Most people think of horror and fear as almost the same thing, one just describes a situation and another an emotion.  However, I wanted to show how in truth horror inspires fear so I made the word horror large and menacing and almost attacking the word fear which is small and cowering in the corner over a black background to hint at the horrors that lie in darkness.
To create the image first I chose a font for horror that seem menacing, and then converted it to an object so I could stretch out its anchor points to give it spindly needles and distort it.  I enlarged the size of it and placed it in the corner.  In order to create the shape I wanted to the word fear I changed the color to a deep red and ungrouped the letters so I could stagger and rotate them to give a cowering form.  Then I just placed the word at the bottom corner and added a black background.

  1. I really like your concept and how you went about showing it, the text reflects is really well. Something I would change would maybe be add more details to the text.

  2. love it the words displays the idea behind them very well, the only thing that was a little off about it was when I first looked at it I didn't see the word fear, horror over powers it almost to much.

  3. This is a really cool concept. I like the fonts you chose for it as well. They enhance what you were trying to say. The only thing I might change is the color in the word horror. I would like to see it as a vibrant red. Something equally as bright but in a red to help show that horror and fear are similar but not the same.

  4. I find the horror text interesting and how you did it. I like how the lines thin out. It's very Tim Burton-esque. I like your concept of the horror text being menacing but I feel you could have conveyed that idea more, perhaps, by having those lines, from the horror text, form a mouth.

  5. I love the fonts you used and the way you portrayed your ideas through composition and font size. I would have liked to see maybe more of the idea of horror creating fear or even maybe more things that horror creates.

  6. I like the way you design the words and make them longer, also it combine with the black background perfectly.
