For my project I had the idea of using as many different
angles, fonts, font sizes, and colors in my piece as I could. So I thought I
would create the word “ME” just by using words that described myself and piece
them together in an eye-pleasing manner. I thought of every word I could that
described me and picked a font that I believe fit that word and a color that I
also believed fit that word. I also varied the word sizes to fit certain
meanings. For example, the word short is extremely small and the word strong it
large and very thick in font.
The way I did this way by first typing the word “ME” in
Futura font and then making it into an object so that I could make the ends of
the word bleed of the edge of the page and just make the letters look how I
wanted them to. Then I turned the word into an outline so I could fill it with
the words and kind of just use it as a guideline to where I should place my descriptive
words. After that is when the real tedious part happened, I started choosing
words I felt that described me and then had to pick a font for each one, pick a
color, size, and then find a place for it. Once I found a place for it I would
either have to transform it by rotating it in all different angles just so I
could get it to fit perfectly where I wanted it. Some words I even had to
change the height and the width of so I could get it to fit in the spot. I have not finished my piece yet but when I do I am going to remove the outline and have only the words form the word "me".

This is a very cool idea and I like that you have so clearly expressed yourself. It looks like you have spent a lot of time on it. My only critique would be to use less colors so the image is not so cluttered looking.
ReplyDeleteThis is great I love you you filled up the word me with all the characteristics that make you up. I also like how the good parts such as "strong" and "considerate" really stand out while you don't exclude some of the negative aspects such as "grumpy," but they do not overtake the image. All it needs is a bit more words in the white spaces but I know that this is still unfinished.
ReplyDeleteYour consideration of emphasizing the words inside "ME" is something I wouldn't have thought of, and it's creative. I do like when people describe themselves, because it is very interesting to see how they see themselves. I would next time consider the height of both M and E. The sizes should be the same height, unless if there is an intention for there to be a difference. There may be one here, I just didn't pick up on it. Great colors. Great words. There definitely was thought put into this project, and I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like this piece, and like that you will take out the outline around the word "Me". I might put a light background behind it just to help it really pop out at you.
ReplyDeleteI really think your idea of placing adjectives and qualities that describe you represents the meaning of "me" well, and I think it'd be really cool to see it once it's without the outline.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea about this project and I like the way you use different words made the big one "ME"
