This is my project at the old main building on the main campus (tempe) of ASU. I wanted to show that while yes it is the oldest building on campus that doesn’t mean it isn’t a beautiful building nor does it mean that it isn’t popular. Many people walk past everyday and some, like myself, make a detour just to see it for a minute, or have lunch in the grass out front.
To do this project I took lots of pictures of people walking up to, in, or around the building and put them into photoshop. I then made various layers of just the people from these images and placed them over the background image of the building. In many cases I also had to resize the layers so that they fit better and moved them around so that they either lined up with the background that I didn’t cut out of each layer, or I carefully erased out the back ground as much as I could so that the layer could go almost anywhere.
I really like that you used color in this piece for the different people and you can tell that different picture were taken at different parts of the day. I think you really captured the beauty of the building.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting piece because so many people go by Old Main everyday and seeing them all there at once almost unifies them. The quality of your photo is also great!
ReplyDeleteI like this piece and the building, you did a great job of capturing it in this project. The only thing I think could make it better is to add just a few more people.
ReplyDeleteThe people mingling around the lawn and sidewalks have varying angles of light shining on them, and this is something I really like about the photo. Cropping turned out excellent too.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of this piece, I just really wish you went further with it by adding more people and more activity. Right now it looks just like a normal photograph, which does show how well you cropped certain images, but I would have liked to see more going on. Overall, the quality of your photoshop skills are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI like it, but I think it is a little bit empty on the grass part. Maybe you should add more people there.
