Unfinished Jimi Hendrix Bio Cover

My idea for the book cover was to use an illustration I never completed. I started the illustration about 3 years ago and I based it off of the Jimi Hendrix song Castles Made of Sand. The song references Jimi's life and the image I get from it, of him fading away like sand, I believe describes his life well. From what I gathered from a bio that I read, Jimi Hendrix grew up a sensitive and creative kid who unfortunately grew up in an abusive home. I personally don't think he could handle fame and that caused a lot of stress for him. He got into drugs and lived a somewhat depressing life, especially towards the end of it.

I used my illustration and cut out the spaces that weren't completed, with the magic wand tool. I wanted to put images of Jimi in the empty spaces. I decided to put vectored images and I transferred them to photoshop and worked a lot in between photoshop and illustrator. I wanted to create a water effect for the images and I was doing so with the eraser tool in photoshop. However, it was taking me a long time. Then I thought about pulling bits and pieces of the images in illustrator to create a better effect. So I had to redo all of the images which has been time consuming.

I used a sand text from dafont.com.

I still plan to do a lot more with this project and I consider it incomplete, at the moment.
