I have three ideas for the vector project. One of my ideas deals with making a biography cover for a Jimi Hendrix Book. I read a biography on Jimi Hendrix and I like his music. I believe I would be able to make an interesting cover because I have some knowledge of his life and career. My idea is to include a piece of work I started during high school but never finished. This illustration that I did was done in a style similar to pointillism using a nib pen with ink. The illustration includes different images of Hendrix playing guitar in a sandy landscape with castles in the horizon, in reference to the Hendrix Song "Castles made of Sand." I believe because of the unfinished quality of the piece I will be able to utilize it for a cover very well by adding other photos and images.
My second idea is to redo a cover for a Superman Comic titled "For the Man Who Had Everything." I found this comic very interesting for it's subject matter in which Superman is found by Batman and Wonder Woman to have an alien parasite attached to his body. This parasite places Superman in a false reality where he is given his deepest desires. Some people find Superman to be an unrelatable character, given his power, but in some ways, ironically, at times, I think he can be the most human of all the super heroes and this comic does well to convey that idea. I want to take elements of the comic book and the episode (they made the comic into a cartoon episode as well) and I want to make more of a graphic novel style of cover.
My third idea deals with making a new cover for the novel "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" by Mitch Albom. A story in which an elderly man dies and goes to heaven where he meets five people, including his deceased wife who appears younger, and each individual tells him how he had in some way affected there lives, in an effort to show him his life's worth as he believes his life to have been a waste. My idea for the cover is to draw a profile view of all the characters standing, with the main character facing the opposite direction of the 5 heaven characters and I want to see what I can do with illustrator.
I still don't know what idea to go with. I might end up doing more than one cover, possibly, all three, even.
