Bonnie's Vector Project

original one

author's photography

Liao Weitang is a powerful Chinese poet and photographer, I like his work so much. I think he shows his unique perspectives and thinking of life through his works. He's really interested in black and white, also most of his photography works are films and he usually makes a big exposure on his works. That's the main reason I like his photography, because I like film pictures especially black and white one. In addition, the left two photos are took by Liao and I think he also likes take pictures of details in the daily live.
This book is a poetry book about what his thinking of life, people and other artist he likes.
I have two redesign book covers of this project, but I'm not really sure which one is better. The first one is the view of window of my dorm and  I took it by Iphone, but I rotated it. The second one is in a seaside city of China and I took is by a digital camera. I like the background of first one more but the second one make the branch of background picture combine with the  title naturally. Also,
Which one do you prefer ?

  1. I love how simple your book cover is. I wouldn't want to change anything about it because it really gets the meaning across. The text seems to fit perfectly and I can't wait to hear what you have to say

  2. I like the image with the bird in the tree. I think the Chinese text surrounding the English text is very interesting. I wonder what might happen if there was a little more contrast in the background like maybe a cloud or something. Maybe even another bird flying over head.

  4. I really like your project. It is simple but very strong with the light and dark contrast. I like the first one better.

  5. I like the first book cover the best. It has such a great contrast about it and it really makes it simple but still very interesting and eye catching.

  6. At first, I liked the bird more because I could see something representational. However, upon further observation I like the first one the best for its abstract quality that draws in your imagination for its simple yet ambiguous image and design. Great job.
